Miners' sacrifices provided the foundation for life in Wyoming Valley

PENNSYLVANIA CANAL SOCIETY COLLECTION, CANAL MUSEUM, EASTON Right, canal boats line up at a coal breaker at West Nanticoke, on the Wyoming Division Canal. The 83-year-old grandson of a coal miner urged state legislators to adopt resolutions that recognize miners and mining - the industry and way of life that defined life in the Wyoming Valley for the first half of the 20th century.
